Get involved

Come

We know it can be daunting to try out a new thing or go back to something that you've stopped doing a long time ago! However we would love to see you at our weekly services, and get to know you better by speaking to you over a cuppa. Depending on your interests you may like to come along to the Guild, the Terrace Lunch Club or other social activities. Study groups are a good way at getting to know some people better - keep an eye out for the next one.

For children and young people there is the Boys Brigade and Junior Church. The Guides also use our halls (see under 'community') but are not a church organisation as such. In the summer holidays of 2018 we organised a very successful Summer Drop In, which  will be repeated this summer, starting 5th July.

Serve

Most of our members would agree that the best way to get to know people better and to grow in your faith is by serving as a volunteer. There are a wide variety of volunteer roles and committees/teams that can use your input and talents. Have a look at 'how we are organised' to see what teams operate and speak to their conveners or to the minister if you would like to know more. Even if you can only help occasionally, this will be very welcome.

Give

St Machar's Ranfurly Church is a charity. Like all Church of Scotland congregations, we are dependent on giving in order to sustain our ministry and look after our buildings. Through our ministries and our buildings we serve all the people of the parish. Each Church of Scotland congregation gives a proportion of its regular income to the central Ministries and Mission Fund from which ministers' stipends, training and other staff are paid throughout Scotland. Members of the congregation are not required to pay a fixed amount but are asked in their membership vows to give sacrificially of their time, talents and money to the Church.

There are different ways to give. If you want to make a one-off donation you can do so by cheque or online transfer to St Machar's Ranfurly Church, Clydesdale Bank, Sort Code 82-61-11, Account Number: 9015 5171. Please email our treasurer if you have made an online transfer.

Regular giving is what helps us with our day to day running and can be done through the setting up of a standing order with your bank, or by using Freewill Offering envelopes to put in the collection plate. If you want to find out more about this, please contact our treasurer.

It is very helpful that you fill in a Gift Aid Declaration if you are a UK taxpayer - we can claim 25% of the value of your donation with the taxman, which makes a big difference.
